Fishing

In 2017 Jef Jel Project financed a new 17-meter fishing boat, motor, and nets which can be taken beyond the local rivers to the open ocean.  The local rivers yield smaller fish which are good for feeding the local community but cannot be sold to the market.  By going to the open ocean, larger fish are caught and can be sold to the open markets.  This has the potential to generate significant income for the villagers.

Ndgangane doesn't currently have skilled open-ocean fishermen. A crew is being hired to manage the fishing operation.  The goal is for local villagers to become interested in the opportunity and gain the skills needed to manage this potentially very profitable opportunity.
