Water and Sanitation

Since Jef Jel's origin, one of the key focus points has been providing fresh water and acceptable sanitation to the communities.  Prior to this support, fresh water was gathered in buckets from distant, deep wells and transported back to the village on the heads of the women of Ndangane.  Sanitation did not exist and was limited to using the local open landscape.

Ndangane is a village composed of 3 different family compounds separated by about 1/2 Kilometer.  Through the efforts of Jef Jel and the work of the villagers, each compound now has a water valve to supply fresh water.

In addition, bathroom facilities with septic systems have been installed to service all of the villagers.  Similar facilities have been installed at our schoolhouse and in other local communities.
